What is a 'chicken skin moment'?
I heard this term on an ESPN Sportcenter broadcast.
There was a pre-game tribute to Ernie Harwell before the Detroit Tigers game tonight. (He was a broadcaster for all the games from 1960-2002)
Mr. Harwell is a legend in the Tiger's organization, the Detroit area, and in Major League Baseball.
He was recently diagnosed with inoperable cancer at the age of 92.
Before the start of the game, he walked onto the field to share a few words with the crowd. He looked great- He sounded as though he could call the game still. It was really a heart felt moment for all who have listened to him in his 42 years of broadcasting.
Speaking at the game was very special given his condition, and seeing him in such good spirits given his fate was remarkable.
This was shown on SportCenter tonight.
One of the anchors remarked after the footage...
"...And that was the second 'chicken skin moment' of the show"
I have never heard that term, and was wondering what he meant.
It seemed as though he felt he had some kind of authority to determine the worthiness of the story. As if he were annoyed by the tribute.
After all.. Chicken Skin is kind of gross, and usually thrown out.

Best Answer: Goose bumps. Chicken skin looks like it has goosebumps. So that was the second very emotional moment.
